About me

Hey there, I’m Vanessa Cameron, writer, illustrator, and researcher exploring how mindfulness, positive psychology, and the science of self-compassion empower us to overcome burnout and awaken inner powers. I specialize in teaching people how to decode their emotions, trust themselves, and get on their own team.

MY STORY

My inPowered journey began at the depths of my struggle with a chronic, often debilitating, autoimmune condition that left me feeling more burnt out and helpless than ever. After founding a mobile startup and working myself into the ground in 2015, I began my quest to discover a better way to work and manage stress. Through coaching, meditation, somatic therapy, and journaling, I found ‘power leaks,’ in my day-to-day interactions.

 
 

WHAT I’VE LEARNED

I’ve found journaling to be the perfect, gentle companion on the path from burnout to recovering our connection to ourselves and the power and wisdom within us. It’s my humble mission with inPowered to offer guidance and space to decode difficult emotions, align with your deepest values, and run on what fuels and serves you.

My BACKGROUND

I’m a recovering perfectionist, spoonie, introvert, practicing Buddhist, and lifelong journal lover. Certified Master EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) practitioner; Stanford Certification, Science of Self-Compassion.


WHILE OVERCOMING BURNOUT

I struggled to trust myself, I wasn’t sure what gut feelings felt like, and I didn’t feel able to speak up for my wants and needs. The more I began to talk to others about these blocks, the more I realized that I was not alone. While this journal won’t offer any advice, tips, or easy answers, it will meet you at every emotional block on the path to inPowerment by suggesting practices to process emotions and prompts to point you back to yourself and the power and guidance that lies inside you.
